Why Me, Why Me?

Hot, Hot, Hot! Last Monday I return from a short mini-vacation with my family to find my house at a balmy 98degrees. To our horror, the AC had stopped doing it’s intended purpose; and was now filling our home with HOT air. I turned it off and called my Home Warranty company for a service call….. 3 days later a technician arrived at my house to fix the problem. Count it, 3 Hot Days! We slept on the laundry room floor the first night, because we have a window unit in there; then the next night couldn’t live with it and stayed at a local Holiday Inn Express. Trying to find places to take the kids during the day, to avoid the heat was taxing to say the least. Finally last Wednesday afternoon, our AC is fixed and everything is cool again. (no pun intended.)

I say all that to say this….this Monday morning at 4am, I awake in a sticky sweat. I stumble down the hallway, to find my thermostat reading 86degrees! It’s broken AGAIN! Now yesterday in Dallas it rained most all day, and I’m so thankful it did, because it kept the temperatures low enough to not have to leave the house all day. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow we will get our AC fixed, well wait it out and see. Going through this experience makes me wonder how people ever lived without AC? How did they do it? Were there more shade trees back then? I know there are many people in Dallas without functioning AC units, but how do they survive?

And what has this experience proven to me beyond a shadow of a doubt? That I am truly a spoiled little AC baby.
