I don’t know how many of you have heard of the allegations against Pastor Ted Haggard, pastor of New Life Church in Colorado Springs, CO; but they are pretty serious. Apparently he’s been accused of paying for gay sex with a man in Denver over the past 3 years. In response to the allegations, Ted Haggard has stepped down from his position with New Life, and the NEA, to let an investigation start into his guilt or innocence.

Here are my thoughts:
- I’ve read all of Ted Haggard’s books, including ‘The Life-Giving Church’, which lays out the bylaws and governing laws of the church. I know that him stepping down when accusations have been made, are a part of New Life Church’s structure. And the laws are there to protect the church from the allegations.
- Doesn’t stepping down, create in impression of guilt on behalf of Ted Haggard? I’m willing to let it all play out, but stepping down creates the headline that he ‘resigned amid sexual allegations.’
- This really breaks my heart. Ted Haggard is a spiritual hero to me. Not that I agree 100% with all his views and opinions, but I think he’s a man to be commended for the vision he has set forth for his church. New Life Church is a unique body of believers, doing things that most churches dream of doing.
- Doesn’t it seem a little crazy that ONE MAN making allegations against another, with NO evidence to prove his theories; has made this major news? Kinda scary to think about.
- This will all have to play out, so we’ll have to be patient for a while. I’m interested in finding out all the details, and to see who is telling the truth and who isn’t.
