In college I read a book that changed my life, Ordering Your Private World by Gordon MacDonald. This book revolutionized the way I studied, slept, and spent my waking hours. In the book he speaks about sinkholes, where something is built up on a foundation that is empty; It translated into a great spiritual principle. However, years after the book was published, Gordon MacDonald would fall into sexual sin, and commit adultery on his wife. He later wrote a book, called Rebuilding Your Broken World. He went on to step down from pastoral care, but eventually met some forms of restoration as the years passed by.

I say all this to reference an article he wrote regarding Ted Haggard. It’s a wonderful article, by a man who has seen some of the same sufferings.
