I’ve finally done it. After months, and maybe even years, I’ve avoided using a feed reader for my favorite blogs; but I’ve now gone fully to the other side. I’ve always preferred to view blogs in their original format, and reading the content in a feed reader seemed kind of like reading email. However, I’ve discovered Google Reader. Google Reader is as great as all the other Google products out there! Basically you sign up all the RSS feeds for the different blogs you read, then it will send you updates on the blogs.
What really helped me start using it was the ‘NEXT‘ button I can put in my bookmark.
Google describes it in this way:
The next bookmark is an innovative way to read your subscriptions. It allows you to use Google Reader through just one link – clicking on it takes you to the next unread item, marking it as read in the process. It is particularly useful for subscriptions which only include snippets or when you want to read an article in context.
To use the next bookmark, simply drag the link below to your bookmark bar.
So basically instead of going to the links of all the blogs I read, I just setup the ones I like in Google Reader; and click the ‘NEXT‘ button in my bookmarks. It then scrolls through all the postings I’ve not yet read. One after another after another after another…
