This week my wife packed and stored away all the family Christmas paraphernalia. The church is doing the same today with all their Christmas stuff. Nobody has the lights on their house anymore, and the stores aren’t near as busy as they were in December. And weirdly enough I miss it. The anticipation of Christmas adds buzz to the air, and the decorations are amusing.
Something about January just seems so boring by comparison. Nobody sings ‘January Music,’ and I’m not expecting somebody to bring cookies and fudge to my house in January. Maybe if I was fat I could make a resolution to lose weight, although if I did this I might blow away in the West Texas wind. I am starting a new Bible reading plan, and hopefully I’ll see it through. I’ve read the Bible through before, but never on a January through December schedule. This year I’m just reading a New Testament plan, trying to keep it simple. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
