I've spent the past three days in Phoenix attending Tommy Barnett's Pastor's School with our church pastoral staff. There are few in the world that can match the enthusiasm of Tommy Barnett. Listening to his son Matthew Barnett this morning has confirmed that the enthusiasm has been passed down the family tree.
Our pastoral team has skipped out of some of the sessions to do some private team building. By team building I mean playing laser tag and generally hanging out together. My experiences with church conferences have taught me that sometimes the value of the trip is just hanging out with those pursuing the vision.
It's been a fun time away, but I'm seriously missing my wife and kids. One more day and I'll be home!
