Sunday, Sickly Sunday

February 25, 2008 — 2 Comments

There is one day of each week that I just cannot be sick. That day would be Sunday. I know that I could miss, and I don’t mean to say that life wouldn’t go on at church without my presence; but if I can physically drag my body there on a Sunday then I will be there.

This Sunday morning I woke up just not feeling good. I had felt great the day before, so I thought that I could shake it if I just headed to the church. It was a long morning for me. I made a couple dozen trips to the bathroom, and fought through my ailment through all 3 morning services. (And isn’t it fitting that on this particular day we had two kids throw-up in our services!) Luckily I kept it from those who worked with me, and after the services I headed home and laid in bed for 3 hours. This particular Sunday Night I had a leadership team training scheduled. So after sleeping for a few hours, I once again dragged my body to the church to teach a special training session for the Elementary team. One of the longest days of my life.

I sure wish I could plan my down-days for Mondays, so I could avoid the troubles of being sick on a Sunday. So today, on Monday I have called in sick. I don’t feel great today, but I feel much better than I did yesterday. Of course Monday doesn’t demand my attention in the same way that Sunday does.

Do you ever have the fear of being sick on that one day you just can’t be sick? You know, being sick on your wedding day, or graduation day, or during a major holiday? There are just some days that are better than others to be sick, if that makes any sense…
