A Ragamuffin Reader

I’ve been reading Brennan Manning’s book “The Ragamuffin Gospel” for well over a month now. It’s not a long book, and it’s a fairly easy read, but it’s been hard for me to digest. This is a book that I’ve known about for years, spoken to others about reading it, seen it on bookshelves, and have never made the time to read it. I’m fearful that it might mess me up…

Hear is one of my favorite quotes after perusing 100 pages…

“How difficult it is to be honest, to accept that I am unacceptable, to renounce self-justification, to give up the pretense that my prayers, spiritual insight, tithing, and successes in ministry have made me pleasing to God! No antecedent beauty enamors me in His eyes. I am lovable only because He loves me.”
