Vacation Recovery

Whew! 7 days of Vacation have come and gone. We left the South Plains on Sunday the 10th, heading to Tulsa, and eventually found ourselves in Branson, MO on Monday, and then discovered North Arkansas on Tuesday, only to head back to Branson for a couple of days at Silver Dollar City and hours upon hours of pool-time! All told we traveled over 2,000 miles round-trip, and everyone held up quite well. For those of you not in the know, Branson is like Las Vegas… if Ned Flanders had invented it. (I totally stole that from Homer.)

I feel so blessed to have a job that allows for extended periods of time with my family. It was fun to be able to just get out of our family routine. No set bedtimes, no alarm clocks, lots of eating out, and even the occasional impromptu wrestling match. Many thanks to some great friends that hooked us up with an embarrassingly cheap condo in the city; and family that gave the kids lots of spending money, and us some extra gas money! This year we started a new tradition of giving everyone a ‘Vacation Name.’ For the whole week I referred to my kids at French Fry, Watermelon, and Strawberry. It made for some funny looks from those around us, but wasn’t that the point anyway? Starr beat me to the blogging punch and shared the best vacation stories HERE!

In the coming week, I hope to have some book reviews up for THIS BOOK, THIS BOOK, and maybe even THIS BOOK if it arrives in the mail!
