Random Learnings from Thinking Orange
Reggie Joiner
This pre-conference breakout was unusual in that it was all day long, and hit on a variety of 35 different topics laid out in the first 15 minutes. You read that right, 35 topics in 15 minutes. After the initial plan was laid out, Reggie started hitting on different topics. I’m not going to attempt to fill you in on everything said that was great, but share the things that stuck out to me.
The 5 main divisions were:
1. Integrate Strategy -Working as a team to speak a common language to the entire family. Learning to identify wins and move towards a common in and identifiable “WIN.”
2. Refine the Message -This was a great section on crafting a timeless message with strategic teaching and relevant environments. Reggie talked a little about synchronized content and creating relational experiences.
3. Reactivate the Family -This is my favorite part. Creating a compelling vision to reach non-churched parents as well as the parents in our church. This part included much about emphasizing milestones in a child’s development, and creating effective family time.
4. Elevate Community -Bring a church-wide focus to reaching the community. I specifically like the thoughts on having an invested leader above it all, with spiritual priorities laid out clearly for everyone.
5. Leverage Influence -This was a great section on creating strategic service opportunities for kids as they mature spiritually. Bringing an awareness of global happenings so families can get involved serving everywhere.
