Upcoming Orange Week!

All next week I’m going to be bringing you ORANGE related topics!  What do I mean by Orange?  Orange is a color and it’s a fruit…duh!  It’s also an idea.  It’s the idea of creating environments in our churches that combine the best of the family (red) with the best of the church (yellow.)  Get it?  Red + Yellow = Orange.  It’s my desire as a Children’s Pastor to work as hard as possible to bring together both entities of the church and the family to most positively impact the spiritual growth of a child.  Here is the idea in a nutshell:

Two combined influences make a greater impact than just two influences.

So this week I’ll be attending the Orange One Day Tour in Dallas and I’ve already registered for The Orange Conference in Atlanta in April.  I’m not sure there are spaces available in Dallas, but I know you can get registered for The Orange Conference TODAY! And then on Sunday through Thursday, me and many other bloggers will be tackling 5 Orange Ideas and giving away tons of free stuff.  Everyone likes free stuff, right?  Stay tuned for more on Sunday!

Open Letter to New Children’s Pastors

Last week I did a guest blogging spot over at www.samluce.com.  Here is an excerpt from his site of my content (weird, huh?)

Dear New Children’s Pastor,

Welcome to the ministry.  I know that if you’ve taken this job, then you are probably comfortable NOT being in the spotlight.  And that’s a great thing, because you will NOT be in the spotlight.  (Unless of course your volunteers don’t show up, but then that’s another letter.)  You’ve taken this job because on some level you love working with children and serving families.  You are probably a person that is comfortable leading children to the feet of Jesus week after week after week after week.  For that you will get the limelight in heaven for eternity, so just wait.

I do have a few things to say to you, so sit down and take a listen.  And by sitting down, I mean put your tush in a chair and hold on tight.  There are three things that need to be said to you, and I don’t want you getting so offended that you step backwards and hurt yourself.  Are you sitting down?  Are you ready?  I’m going share three goals for your new endeavor.

In order of importance let’s start with possibly the most important goal I will give you in the history of forever.

Go Read the Three Things HERE.

Don’t Hate Me

Easily the most popular blog posting series I’ve ever done was on the 5 Things I Hate about Children’s Ministry.  Give it a chance and read it again for the first time.  If you left comments, then I really appreciate you taking the time to do so.  Kudo’s to you for coming out of the corner and being involved!

I promise I wasn’t trying to being mean, I was just looking for a fancy way to drive some traffic to something I had written.  I know that I’ve received a few emails worried that I’m slamming people when their down, but that was never my intention.   As proof, above is the Wordle from the entire series.  See how that “Hate” word is so much smaller than the other words?  I’m really a nice guy, promise…
