A Baseball Weekend

September 30, 2011 — 2 Comments

It’s baseball time in the Cliff house, and that means a few things this year:

  • We root for our Texas Rangers.
  • We root against the evil empire of Major League Baseball, aka…the Yankees.
  • We remember the ALCS from last season.  In fact, why don’t we remember it together…enjoy the video!

I Choose

September 27, 2011 — 3 Comments

Today I choose:

I choose to see my frustrations as my motivations.

I choose to be content with what I have been given in this season.

I choose to challenge myself to not just go through the motions.

I choose to lead those who don’t want to be led.

I choose to believe the best of my assumed enemies.

I choose to measure my success by spiritual standards and not mans.

I choose to get better at something I’m not good at.

I choose to invest in somebody that others won’t.

I choose to love the person that doesn’t deserve it.

I choose to pray for God to help me make the right choices, and I choose to pray that the Holy Spirit convicts my hearts, actions, and motivations to be holy.

What are you making the choice to do today?

Dr. Emerson Eggerichs is an internationally known expert on male-female relationships.  Also a dynamic speaker, he was recently invited to speak to the NFL owners and coaches, the PGA players and spouses at The Players Championship, and the New York Giants at their new stadium in NJ.

Dr. Eggerichs is also the author of several books including the national bestseller, Love and Respect, which has sold over 1.3 million copies.  Based on over three decades of scientific and biblical research, Dr. Eggerichs developed the Love and Respect Conference which he and his wife Sarah present to live audiences around the country.

I had a great opportunity to talk to Dr. Eggerichs backstage at the D6 Conference, and asked him about arguing with my wife, how we can encourage parents, and what advice he’d have for someone in my position of life.

David Platt Interview

September 22, 2011 — 8 Comments

This morning at the D6 Conference, I was able to spend some time backstage with David Platt.  He is the Pastor at The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, AL, and the author of the great book, Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream.  David absolutely blew it up this morning at D6.  I love it when a person is so passionatte about their purpose, that it makes others uncomfortable.

In this quick 7 minute interview we talked about our children, raising them to seek Christ, and helping our kids learn to not be “of the world.”
