It’s that time of year again. Since 2008, I’ve had a fun opportunity to spend a week in Atlanta, Georgia with friends that do my job and those that love the things we do. I have a real passion for parents, kids, and everyone that loves them; and when I’m in Atlanta at the Orange Conference I never feel more surrounded by likeminded people than I do when I’m there.

In honor of what will be a few updates from the Orange Conference 2013, I give you the Friday Bag…Orange Edition.

New Orange Conference Family Ministry Track — This is a great opportunity to really narrow down what we do for families within our church, and it’s a special chance for me to lead a breakout with these same leaders. I’m stoked to be teaching “Clarifying the Win for Family Ministry” on Thursday Afternoon, April 25th.

Tune into The Orange Conference! “We’d love for everyone to be here in person for OC13, but realize that’s not always an option. So, we’d like to offer you the next best thing: tune in online. You’ll be able to see on and off-stage action, including session streaming, speaker interviews, mayhem and hi-jinx, resource updates and giveaways, and perhaps even win a ticket to OC14!”

The Orange Conference App “If you’re planning to attend The Orange Conference this Spring in Atlanta, Georgia, this app will help make your experience on site pretty darn stellar.”

The Friday Bag

This is the 21st Friday Bag that I’ve released here, and we’ll have to imagine this Friday Bag going out for a beer on it’s 21st Birthday. No worries, the Friday Bag drinks responsibly  We are also hoping that after the 21st edition, we will begin to see some more maturity out of the bag. Could happen…

Three Reasons to Restructure Your Family Ministries – Surprise! I agree with this view on family ministry…

How to Become a Morning Person – This is a great post by Michael Hyatt, but really it could have just as easily been accomplished by telling everyone to add a one week old to your home. Then immediately you’re a morning person!

13 Web Apps You Need in 2013“Choosing the best tools to help us with that can be a chore, but to start you off on the right path for 2013, I’ve assembled 13 web apps you need to get familiar with so that you can make the most of the year ahead.”

Things I Have Learned, by John Piper- “Since my father died, I have been looking through his papers. I found a small sheet with the following fifteen counsels, titled “Things I Have Learned.” || This list is golden people, read it and then read it again.

The Science of Productivity (Video)

I wanted to share such a great story of adoption. It motivates me to consider what I could do to meet the worlds needs in a similar way.

The Cliff Family has been in Athens, Georgia for 3 months, and we are loving every moment of it. I wrote a little earlier this week about our church, but I thought I’d do a special Friday Bag of some of our favorite things.

Downtown Athens – This may be the most attractive part of coming for a visit. There are great restaurants, great bars, great music, and eccentric happenings on most every street corner. We love, love, love spending date nights there, and walking the sidewalks with our kids.

The State Botatanitcal Garden of Georgia – We’ve been here a couple of times, and love all of the nature and greenery we’ve missed for so long. It’s all that you’d expect from a garden…it’s got flowers and trees and streams and more flowers.

University of Georgia - As of yet we’ve not been to Sanford Stadium for a game, but we have been there for an after-the-game event. Most of our experience at UGA has been just walking around on campus and reading markers outside of 100 year old buildings; but one of the best parts of the campus is that it backs up right beside the fun downtown!

The People – Wish I had a link to them, but I don’t. Our family has found a safe place to land, and we’re excited about all that the future holds for us here in Athens. I promise to not fill the website with reasons why where I live is so great, but once every few years will work…right?

Here is another great city guide to Athens. Enjoy! http://www.designsponge.com/2012/10/athens-ga-city-guide.html

Friday Bag #8

July 20, 2012 — 1 Comment

The Friday Bag is a collection of often unrelated and always random things I’ve found on these fantastical Internets. I always post it on a FRIDAY. It’s a virtual BAG of stuff. That is why it’s called the Friday Bag. Enjoy.

10 Tips for Leading Young Pastors- I love, love, love this post. It’s a “They’ve Read my Mail” type of information. “Here are some important principles I think will help older leaders to guide us young guys well.”

6 Unexpected Ways to Make Someones Day“If you really want to brighten someone’s day, do the unexpected. The effect could last a lifetime.”

7 Ways to Raise Up Young Leaders“Frankly, some pastors I talk with are frustrated with what they see as a lack of leadership among the newer generations.”

Most Extreme Hiking Trails from Around the Country - No Thank You. “If you are an adrenaline addict and adventure lover, plus you can boast excellent psychical condition and strong nerves, you should try one of these mountain routes.”

“Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little.” -Edmund Burke
