Most American Have Done It

Saw this story the other day on the Internet and on the news.

Most Americans Have Had Premarital Sex

Two Things:

  1. I did NOT have premarital sex. Dated my future wife for 4+ years, while attending college at a VERY public university campus, and was still able to be married a virgin to a virgin. Not an easy thing to do in the times I live in, but still very doable. It really is a viable alternative to obtaining STD’s and becoming pregnant before you want to; (and other things I will not get into at this time.) My wife and I always held the belief that Elisabeth Elliott was right when she said in her book Passion and Purity, “whatever is held until after marriage will be that much better when you are married.”
  2. Having known that little bit of information about me, do you think it’s weird that I find this article very easy to believe. In fact, I find it to be about perfect in my experiences with people.

The Moving Religion

DISCLAIMER: This posting and link is fascinating for believers and atheists alike.

I often times link to articles by John Piper, and today I wanted to share one I read yesterday.

Unexpected Blows to Fatalistic Thinking

John Piper explores the writings of Philip Jenkins, of the University of Pennsylvania, and his book The Next Christendom: The Coming of Global Christianity. It’s a very interesting read into how the ‘location’ of Christianity is changing. For centuries Christianity has found it’s center in Europe and North America, but things are changing and it is widely becoming an African and South American center. Very Interesting idea for sure…

Who would have thought that the most powerful influences for sane doctrinal faithfulness in the global Anglican Communion would come not from the evangelical resurgence of British evangelicals (as wonderful as that is), but from African bishops who regard so-called gay marriage (for example) as the oxymoron that it is?

Who would have thought that thirty or so conservative Episcopalian congregations physically located in North America would now technically be part of the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Rwanda?

Who would have though that there would be twice as many Presbyterians today in South Korea as there are in the United States?

Who would have thought that China would be one of the largest “Christian” nations. In 1949, China had only four million Christians. Today the number stands at about eighty-two million.

Theoretical Marriage

I’m not gloating, just pointing out that loving ONE woman for the rest of your life is more of a challenge than explaining black holes and the origins of the universe. Guess it takes more than a theoretical physicist to figure out how to keep a marriage together?

Cohabitation Ceremony

This is the marriage ceremony turned all upside down. Very funny, yet completely honest. From one of my favorite churches in America, lifechurch.tv
